Welcome

Hello Mark Twain Families!

Can you believe that school is almost here!! First Day- August 16th!! I hope everyone had a fun summer and is eager to get back to learning time! This year Mark Twain Elementary is celebrating 100 years - 1923-2023.  I am so excited to have your child with us as we continue to build a legacy of learners!

Our school prides itself on creating a place where “teachers TEACH and students LEARN.”  Expectations are high for all students.  We will continue to exert our efforts to make learning exciting, so students experience the joy of discovering new ideas and building new skills. However, Mark Twain’s reputation and success rest, in large part, on parental support.  For optimal success, follow these three easy steps: 1) Have your child read or be read to 20-30 minutes each day and complete his/her homework. 2) Have your child attend school on time and ready to learn every day. If your child is going to be absent, it is your responsibility to call the school at 913-627-5200. 3) Ensure that your child gets 9.5-10 hours of sleep needed to support learning and self-regulation.

We will provide basic school supplies for your child. We recommend a backpack and a pencil box.  If you would like to provide additional supplies for your child or donate supplies to their classroom, your support is much appreciated.

Basic Supplies: pencils, crayons, paper, glue, scissors, etc.
